POPCORN & THE BOX: The Guilded Age of Award Season

Everyone has an award to give, but those of one's professional peers carries a special weight.

The Directors' Guild of America announces it's 2004 nominees (feature director):

Clint Eastwood, "Million Dollar Baby"
Marc Forster, "Finding Neverland"
Taylor Hackford, "Ray"
Alexander Payne, "Sideways"
Martin Scorsese, "The Aviator"

The DGA will make their Box announcements Monday.

The Producers' Guild of America yesturday announced it's Best Picture contenders (sound familiar?):

Million Dollar Baby
Finding Neverland
The Incredibles
The Aviator

The PGA also honors Box-sized a projects. This years short list is...

The Danny Thomas kudos for episodic comedy...
Fox's "Arrested Development"
HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" (Winner 2003)
HBO's "Sex and the City" (Winner 2001, 2002, 2004)
NBC's "Scrubs"
NBC's "Will & Grace"

The Norman Felton trophy for episodic drama...
FX's "Nip/Tuck"
HBO's "Six Feet Under" (Winner 2003)
HBO's "The Sopranos"
NBC's "The West Wing"

The Writer Guild of America will announce their popcorn nom's on January 13th.

The Screen Actors' Guild, the most attention grabbing due to it's glamorous members, will announce nominees Tuesday, January 11. TNT airs the SAG awards February 5th.
