POPCORN: Last, but not Least… WGA delivers some love

Yesterday, the Writers’ Guild of America announced it’s nominations for achievements in screenwriting. This marks the last major guild to announce its contenders. I’m personally very excited to see Before Sunset, Mean Girls, and Garden State on the list as I feel they have been overlooked in this repetitive awards season. Also, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is very deserving of it’s nomination as it is my favorite movie of the year.

And the nominees are:

Adapted for the screen:

"Before Sunset": lead actors Julie Delpy, Ethan Hawke, and director Richard Linklater
"Mean Girls": Tina Fey
"Million Dollar Baby": Paul Haggis
"The Motorcycle Diaries": Jose Rivera
“Sideways." Jim Taylor and director Alexander Payne

Original:

"The Aviator": John Logan
"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind": Charlie Kaufman
"Garden State": actor-director Zach Braff
"Hotel Rwanda": Keir Pearson and director Terry George
"Kinsey": Bill Condon
