SAGGING ACTORS

This morning the Screen Actor’s Guild announced it’s nominations for self congratulatory Actor on Actor love. While there is much snubbing and pity noms, there are no fall out of your seat surprises, IMO.

Don Cheadle / HOTEL RWANDA
Johnny Depp / FINDING NEVERLAND
Leonardo DiCaprio / THE AVIATOR
Jamie Foxx / RAY
Paul Giamatti / SIDEWAYS
(No love for Jim Carey, again!)

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role

Annette Bening / BEING JULIA
Catalina Sandino Moreno / MARIA FULL OF GRACE
Imelda Staunton / VERA DRAKE
Hilary Swank / MILLION DOLLAR BABY
Kate Winslet / ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

Cloris Leachman / SPANGLISH
Laura Linney / KINSEY
Virginia Madsen / SIDEWAYS
Sophie Okonedo / HOTEL RWANDA

MILLION DOLLAR BABY Warner Bros.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series:

Hank Azaria / HUFF
James Gandolfini / THE SOPRANOS
Anthony LaPaglia / WITHOUT A TRACE
Jerry Orbach / LAW & ORDER
Kiefer Sutherland / 24
(James Spader! Where is James Spader? I demand to know why James Spader is not on this list. Also, I loved Jerry, but this is a pity nom. SAG didn’t seem to care how great he was back in 1993 or 1998 or 2001. I mean, he was only on Law & Order for 10+ years.)

Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series

Drea De Matteo / THE SOPRANOS
Edie Falco / THE SOPRANOS
Jennifer Garner / ALIAS
Allison Janney / THE WEST WING
Christine Lahti / JACK & BOBBY

Teri Hatcher / DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
Patricia Heaton / EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND
Megan Mullally / WILL & GRACE
Sarah Jessica Parker / SEX AND THE CITY
Doris Roberts / EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND
(Marcia, Marcia, Marcia… Marcia Cross should be very much be on this list. Dare I say, even more so than Teri Hatcher. Doris Roberts should not be on this list. I am so tired of her obnoxious arrogance. I don’t understand, nor do I know, anyone who loves Raymond anyway!)

Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series

24 FOX
CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION CBS
SIX FEET UNDER HBO
THE SOPRANOS HBO
THE WEST WING NBC
(I’d like to see Lost here, but I think each of these shows also deserves to be here.)

WILL & GRACE NBC

Screen Actors Guild Awards 41st Annual Life Achievement Award: James Garner
